Manu National Park – Reserved Zone
Our 7 days trips is focused to spend more days at the amazonian lowland of Manu park, having much more time to explore this untouched rainforest with great chances to spot the most emblematic and top predators such as Jaguar, Caimans , Giant River otter.

In this Trip we visit all points of interest in the Manu National Park. From Cocha’s Salvador and Otorongo, the pristine Manu River, and walk-up Canopy Towers. A fantastic combination of comfortable lodges and wildlife attractions.

Program Itinerary

Day 1: CUSCO – AMAZON PONA LODGE
Our adventure into the Jungle of Manu start with picking you up around 5:30 AM, from your Hotels in Cusco, using the service of our private Manu Wildlife Tours transport. The first part of our excursion is will take us through the majestic Andean mountains and andean villages. Before mit-day we arrive at the entrance of Manu National Park, the access point to one of the most protected natural areas in South America. From here we will continue into the Cloud Forest and at Fog forest we will explore for around 4 hours to observe the National bird of Peru, the cock of the rock, the biggest monkey in Peru (woolly monkeys) and to observe different types of bromeliads and beautiful orchids, then We arrive to our selected Amazon Pona Lodge. In the evening, we'll walk into the jungle, (night expedition) to see tarantulas, different types of spiders, poisonous frogs, tree frogs, snakes, Giant armadillos and boas. (B, L)

Day 2: AMAZON PONA LODGE – PAPAYA ECO LODGE
We will wake up early in the morning with the singing of the Amazonian birds and after breakfast have the chance to walk along the high forest visiting the local agricultures like coca plants, bananas, pineapples, etc.

we will also stop at a nice view point where you can get a good overview of the jungle and river. From Atalaya we leave by motorized boat to our lodge. A long the boat trip we will see many different kind of animals, birds, plants and flowers.

We will walk in the afternoon until evening in our Ecological Reserve (included night expeditions) to see tarantulas, different types of spiders, poisonous frogs, tree frogs, snakes, night monkeys and armadillos. (B, L, D)

Day 3: PAPAYA ECO LODGE – CAMPING HUTS
After early breakfast we will explore the jungle for several hours and see different tipys of wildlife , as squirrels monkeys, brown capuchin monkeys and howler monkeys, birds such as eagle, Macaws, woodpeckers, toucans, flycatcher, and kingfisher etc. Many different kinds of plants and medecin plants.

After this we will swim in the river and fish. We camp in our camping huts for watching nocturnal animals and to enjoy the mixed sounds of the jungle (protected by mosquitos net) (B, L, D)

Day 4: CAMPING HUTS – MANU RIVER - CASA MATCHIGUENKA LODGE
After early brekfast, We leave the Camping Huts and continue our journey downriver by Alto Madre de Dios River, From here we change waterway to dark waters of Manu River, where we’ll pass the next five hours by boat, in the most biodiversity area in the world. The landscape are stunning. Keep always your eyes open for see the jaguar restless (Panthera onca), the magnificent black caiman, or white caiman, capybaras and river turtles. At night we’ll venture in night expedition in search night wildlife like night monkeys, boas, tarantulas, frogs, spiders and serpents. (B, L, D)

Day 5: MATCHIGUENKA LODGE - MACAWS CLAY LICK (Oxbow Lakes, giant otters and exploration day)
The third day of your trip is possibly the most awaited day. We will be leaving our Lodge at 05:00 AM, we will have the chance to visit a macaw clay lick where the red and green macaws are observed. The clay is known to be rich in nutrients that help these birds to flush out toxins from their bodies. After the Macaws clay lick, a good breakfast and then We visit one of the biggest lake in the park the stunning Salvador Lake, which is the natural habitat for any countless number of local species. This morning we have time to canoeing the lake on floating catamarans observing ox-bow lake animal life from the water. We may encounter Giant otters (Pteronura brasiliensis), troupes of howler monkeys (Alouatta sara), or spider monkeys,

This day we have time to explore the trails in the area and a visit to the lake of Cocha Otorongo is planned, where We will use a 20-meter observation tower in the rainforest canopy overlooking the lake are available for observing wildlife. We will also be on the lookout for a large family of Giant Otters that inhabit this lake. (Optional night walk) (B, L, D)

Day 6: CASA MATCHIGUENKA LODGE – PAPAYA ECO LODGE
We can explore the trail system at the lodge in the morning before heading downriver to Papaya Eco Lodge, maybe we will even have a chance to see a group of Monkeys, Later, we will take the boat way back and travel for four hours down stream, on the way we still having chance see some black caimans laying on the beach getting the sun heat, maybe we will be able to see the great, South American feline, the Jaguar, which may be just resting in the sun in some place along the river. At night, we will visit another system of trails. (optional) (B, L, D)

Day 7: PAPAYA ECO LOGE – CUSCO
Early morning start as flocks of birds pass over the boat, Our destination to Atalaya port where we’ll take our private transport way back to Cusco. Expected arrival time is around 6:00 PM. (B, L)
